everything i create here is a doorway into my imagination and made to be shared beyond the internet and brought into your own space.

ARTIST STATEMENT

Tova Brodin (b. 2000) is a Swedish mixed-media artist whose practice is primarily centered on painting.

Her artistic practice includes painting, sculpture, and mixed media. Her work combines childlikeness with themes such as vulnerability, identity, desire, shame, and human relationships. Her art expresses a longing for a world that is childlike and peaceful, without
awareness of restrictions or limitations.

She primarily work with acrylic paint, using strong, colorful palettes in combination with soft and defined contours to create surreal images.

Characters often play a central role in her work. The figures featured in her work exist in a “sphere of existence” somewhere between innocence and maturity, functioning as a balance between the two. They can be seen as her alter egos, her way of projecting herself onto them, or even as “vessels” for her emotions.
